At an event held in Frankfurt, the "Green Spain" tourism brand presented its new initiative "Norte Diem", an artistic-gastronomic experience that invites you to experience northern Spain with all your senses. This event marks the start of an innovative project that fuses the cultural wealth, nature and gastronomy of the four autonomous communities that make up Green Spain: the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia.
The event was attended by 60 guests of great importance in the German tourism industry, including directors and managers of travel agencies, local media and opinion leaders from the world of culture and business.
The evening included a welcome cocktail, where representative dishes from each autonomous community were offered, prepared by the renowned chef Iñigo Lavado. Each recipe was accompanied by wines from the respective regions and videos showing the beauty of the territories. This was followed by the official welcome with brief speeches by Enrique Criado, Consul of Spain in Frankfurt, Octavio González, Director of OTS Frankfurt, and Daniel Solana, Director of Basquetour, the Basque Tourism Agency, who spoke on behalf of "Green Spain".
The highlight of the event was the presentation of "Norte Diem" through a five-minute immersive video that transported the guests to the landscapes of "Green Spain", highlighting the cultural and natural diversity of the different communities.
In his speech, Daniel Solana highlighted the transformative drive of the Ecotourism Corridor, an ambitious initiative that aims to become the largest of its kind in Europe. The project, in collaboration with the Spanish Ecotourism Association and Turespaña, promises to consolidate a more sustainable, deseasonalised and internationalised tourism model for northern Spain.
Data provided by the autonomous communities revealed the growing interest of the German market in Green Spain. They highlighted milestones that can make these territories even more attractive to the German public, such as the centenary of the birth of the sculptor Eduardo Chillida in Euskadi, the arrival of the high-speed train to Asturias and the extension of direct flights to the Principality (currently from Düsseldorf, and from March with Frankfurt and Munich), and the "Steps for LIFE" project in Cantabria, which turns the Camino Lebaniego, which celebrates its Lebaniego Jubilee Year 2023-2024, into a green infrastructure of biodiversity. Galicia, with its attractions such as the Camino de Santiago, the Camellia Route, and its wines, continues to attract German visitors.
Green Spain has brought to Germany an innovative proposal that combines haute cuisine, spectacular nature and cultural richness. "Norte Diem" is not just an event, it is the beginning of a unique experience that invites travel lovers to immerse themselves in the authenticity, diversity and cultural and gastronomic richness of Northern Spain.
